Dr. Candy Carson grew up in Northern California and Oregon. She attended Oregon State University and graduated with a degree in Animal Science, pre-vet option in 1996. Right after graduation she married her college sweetheart, Jamie, and travelled with him for a couple years via the US Marine Corps until attending vet school. She had the unique experience of attending 3 different vet schools because she started in the Oregon State program that sent their students up to Washington State at the time for part of the program. After a year at each university, her husband was transferred to Michigan with the Marine Corps, so she transferred to Michigan State University and graduated with her DVM degree in 2003. Initially she worked in southern CA for 2 years, then moved to Arizona to be closer to her twin sister, Kay. She worked in Scottsdale and Mesa, AZ for 19 years in small animal practices, before joining our staff in June 2024. Her interests in veterinary medicine are broad including internal medicine, dermatology, general dentistry, soft tissue surgery, pain management and helping senior dogs live their best life. Dr. Carson likes to take time to let your pet get to know her, often sitting on the floor with them, letting them sit in her lap (size permitting!). She and her husband reside in the area with their 2 boys, Logan and Bryce, and host of animals. They attend a local church and spend time volunteering with the children there. In her spare time she likes to walk the dogs, read, camp, hike, ride the Arizona trails in their side by side, dance, garden, hit the gym, cook, craft.
