There is a vaccine available for F.I.V. at this time. The success rate in preventing infection is estimated at about 80%. But that means that one in 5 cats that are vaccinated will still contract the viral infection. One negative of this vaccine is that it will cause all current methods of testing to show the cat to be “positive”. It is a concern for us that we could have truly positive cats that we couldn’t recognize as such.
